| Redemtech Becomes an Exclusive Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher |
As a long-time participant in the Community Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher program for donated computer equipment, Redemtech has come on board with a new program launched recently by Microsoft known as MAR – the Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher Program – a licensing program that allows select refurbishers to preinstall genuine Windows XP software on refurbished PCs sold in the commercial market.
The program aligns closely with Redemtech’s core business objectives to extend the usable life of computer equipment and create superior value for its TCM customers. Businesses and consumers in the market for refurbished PCs will benefit from Redemtech providing genuine Windows XP Professional Edition or Windows XP Home Edition operating system licenses – at a significant savings over retail – on professionally refurbished, OEM-level tested computers, versus the risk of buying used computers without these protections. While enterprises that are decommissioning desktop and laptop computers will realize greater reutilization and higher returns on their surplus equipment. Specifically, Redemtech customers can expect to see an estimated 10-percent to 40-percent increase on their investments through the resale of professionally refurbished equipment with Windows software, a genuine Certificate of Authenticity (COA) and Recovery Media pack. | Robert Houghton Addresses Industry Trends at E-Scrap Conference |
The most prevalent electronics recycling services provided today are demanufacturing and resale, according to the E-Scrap News 2007 Processor Survey. The results were released during the E-Scrap 2007 North American Electronics Recycling Conference in Atlanta on October 25, and the key trends and issues identified by the study were addressed by a panel of industry experts that featured Robert Houghton, president of Redemtech. Among other salient findings of the survey: hand or manual dismantling is the primary processing technique for end-of-lifecycle electronics, and 92.3% of survey respondents said they destroy hard drives to preserve data security.
Mr. Houghton discusses his E-Scrap panel discussion experience and concern that the e-scrap industry is hoping for legislation to force a reluctant market into recycling their old equipment in the blog, E-Wasted, But Planning for a Better Day.
