Redemtech Opens Richmond TCM Center

Columbus, Ohio (November 28, 2005)Redemtech, a leading provider of Technology Change Management (TCM) services, announced today the opening of a new 115,000 square foot processing facility in Richmond, Virginia. The facility, which will employ 80 people, expands the company’s network of regional processing centers, bringing TCM services closer to organizations with operations in the Eastern United States.

TCM is a comprehensive approach to IT asset management that helps organizations improve their return on assets (ROA) by increasing technology utilization, extending useful life, reducing regulatory liabilities and maximizing value at end of life.

“Asset recovery and disposition programs, which are essential components of TCM, are often fragmented across multiple suppliers to reduce transportation costs,” said Robert Houghton, president and founder of Redemtech. “That increases risk and prevents the full benefits of TCM from being realized. Our network of facilities enables national or international organizations to implement TCM in a way that speeds the deployment, reutilization or final disposition of assets while keeping transportation costs low.”

Redemtech processing centers prepare new and used technology assets for deployment and manage disposition at end of life, including warranted destruction of sensitive hard drive data. All processing facilities are equipped with Retrac™, Redemtech’s Web-based business process automation system. Retrac accurately and efficiently processes high volumes of unsorted technology based on client business rules. New computing devices are routed through the processing center for imaging, configuration, data security, and asset tagging. Assets targeted for retirement undergo data security management and compliance reporting processes prior to being remarketed or recycled. Redemtech has a zero-landfill, zero-export policy for assets at end of life to ensure responsible disposal in compliance with all relevant regulations.

Carol Dunn, global asset surplus disposition manager at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), a leading global information technology services company, uses Redemtech TCM services to manage the refurbishment and redeployment of assets. “We significantly improved our return on IT assets by employing technology change management,” said Dunn. “The regional processing center in Richmond will provide faster turnaround times and reduced transportation costs for assets used to support our many customers in this region.”

“Our clients are taking a more strategic approach to asset management,” said Jill Vaske, vice president, Redemtech. “Supply risks and manufacturer delivery constraints are being countered through alternative stock planning and sourcing approaches. Focusing on asset productivity and return-on-asset value, businesses are evaluating asset management behaviors across their organization and adopting alternative approaches to supply, deployment, change and recovery controls. This has driven demand for our TCM services, which can be delivered most efficiently through automated regional processing, as provided for by our new Richmond facility.”

The Richmond processing facility includes an automated pallet flow conveyor system, wireless batch picking, climate-controlled integration, and advanced packing machines to streamline workflow and speed asset turnaround.

“We have engineered this facility to provide faster, more efficient processing of assets,” said Eric Vetrano, senior vice president of operations, Redemtech. “By building on best practices from our other facilities and implementing new systems we are able to reduce asset handling and more easily scale to handle peak volumes.”
